This survey course introduces students to theoretical perspectives in mass communications and journalism, and enables students to situate their work as journalists within a broader perspective of research and theory. Through readings, lectures and discussion, students are introduced to the works of communications theorists with special consideration of the application of their ideas to the purpose, impact and challenges of Canadian journalism.This course is available as part of both the undergraduate Journalism program and the News Studies Minor.
